Red Whale Road & Groad Route (DJ, Margie)

Great ride for those new to the club, returning to cycling, looking for a recovery ride or just checking us out.  All riders welcome.  Members and non-members please pre-register for the ride and make sure you receive a registration confirmation.

Red Whale Road Ride with DJ:   Meet at 9:45AM/Roll out at 10:00AM

Sample Red Whale Road Route 33mi/+1,500'  

30-35 miles round trip on a mostly flat route with some variations decided by the ride leader.  
AB pace, social/conversational pace 11-13.0 mph average overall speed for the entire ride.
20% or higher chance of rain cancels the ride

The actual route may be decided by the Ride Leader

Red Whale Groad Ride 37mi/+1,500'

The route goes along the Hamilton Wetlands on smooth as butter gravel.  Then we head on the road up to College of Marin Campus for a sweet little section of wooded gravel.  We will ride along San Marin, cross 101 then frolick through Rush Creek fire roads and a little easy single track.  We will snake along the road to Doctor Insomniac's for a coffee break.  The end will be on pavement back to the starting point.

It's a great way to spend your Sunday morning.
Groad Ride Important Information; please review
Gravel bike or mountain bike with 38mm-45mm tires are highly recommended for improved traction and handling.
*Some of the sections may be mildly technical
 
***Please note that eBikes of all classes are EXPRESSLY PROHIBITED on all unpaved roads, fire roads or trails in almost all CA state parks and ALL Marin County Open Space Preserves which multiple sections of this gravel route travel on (Rush Creek Preserve and the Hamilton Wetlands Preserve)
