Women's Social Sunday #10: Cookies in the Park, The Sequel (Lorraine, Helen)

Sometimes, the Sequel can be just as good as the original...don't you agree?  You'll have to find out for yourself by coming to Cookies in the Park--The Sequel.  Either way you will surely enjoy a day of girl talk, exploring the picturesque Carquinez Strait shoreline AND an optional post ride stop at Butter Pecan Bakeshop, a bakery that "takes you back to a simpler time" when folks "met for coffee, fist bumped and gave each other hugs."

Meet at 9:15AM and please be ready to roll at 9:30AM.

Join us for Cookies in the Park--The Sequel that starts at the Pinole Senior Center Building in Pinole, CA and ends at the Butter Pecan Bakeshop in Pinole.  We will putter around the Contra Costa County.   Lorraine Trautwein will lead and Helen Kwong will sweep this ride.  We will begin along the Carquinez bayfront in a clockwise direction passing several towns, detour at Port Costa for a photo op, continue on Carquinez Scenic Drive, then loop back via Alhambra Valley; save your legs for a gradual 800' climb on Pig Farm Hill and we return via Pinole Valley Road.  Stay for the raffle drawing at the end for a SportsBasement $10 gift card; one lucky finisher will be selected.  Not a beginners ride.

This is a SOCIAL GROUP ride; a steady pace of 11-13.0 mph average will be maintained during the entire ride (a little faster on the flats.)  The intent is to ride together as a group.

Women only ride.  Please invite your friends who might be up for a ride of this distance and climbing.  We’d love for them to become new members of The Marin Cyclists.  All riders, including non-members, must register in advance.

Regroups and stops:

  • Fernandez Park public restroom (near the start, 0.1 mile away; over the footbridge towards Tennant Ave; then take the walkway towards the baseball field.  Arrive early; check with the Ride Organizers at the start; other may need to use the bathrooms as well and we can go together.)

  • Bay Trail Regroup (mi 1.6)

  • Port Costa photo op (mi 9.9)

  • Nejedly Staging area restrooms(mi 15.2)

  • Butter Pecan Bakeshop stop (mi 31.3)
