Join Melissa Jacobson and Frank Valentini for an outing to summit Mount Diablo.  Meet: 9:45 AM/ wheels roll: 10:00 AM.  Let's try to stay together as there are a few hidden bikeways and access corridors that are not easily seen from the road or on a map until we get to the South Gate Mt. Diablo Park Entrance at mile 12.4.

Must register to ride, members and non-members.

***Please review the RWGPS route links below carefully.  Please pay attention to mile 9.9; sharp left turn from Green Valley Road to DIABLO ROAD TRAIL (not Diablo Road) and mile 11.8 crossover from Alameda Diablo to Mt. Diablo Scenic Road is a right turn to an unmarked footpath and then through a GAP IN THE WALL onto Mt. Diablo Scenic Road.   

Please upload the route to your bike computer or phone, or print out a turn by turn cue sheet for yourself.  We may ride at different speeds and some of us may choose to summit or not.

Summit Mt Diablo 38 mi/+4,200' After the Junction Ranger station, halfway point, hang a right and continue for another 9 miles on Summit Road; and then back track the same way you came up on Summit road.  At mile 26.9, continue straight where Summit Road becomes North Gate Road.

Bring warm layers with you.  It's cold as you get higher up and the descent is even chillier.

***Shorter Leaderless option up to The Junction Ranger Station:
To Junction Ranger Station 29 mi/+2600' Climb to the Junction Ranger Station at 2,155' elevation and take the left at mile 17.9 to North Gate Road to descend.  There is no assigned ride leader for this shorter route.  On the return trip after you reach The Junction you can wait for the "summit" group and bike back to the start together OR download the RWGPS route/print out a cue sheet to direct you back to Heather Farm Park.
