Not to be missed! Slap on your gravel tires, at least 32cc recommended. A mostly flat, fun and picturesque Social Pace South Bay gravel route w/ a midpoint stop at El Taco de Oro in Alviso. Ride with Mark and Kathy and let's explore the South Bay marshlands together. We'll start at Jarvis Landing in Fremont at Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge; cross the 84 Dumbarton Bridge and do a counter clockwise loop along the perimeter of the San Francisco Bay: SF Bay Trail, Stevens Creek, Sunnyvale West Pond, Alviso Marina Park, mid point taco stop at El Taco de Oro in Alviso, Coyote Creek and so much more... then back on Newark local streets to return to the start. 60% paved/40% gravel. Bring plenty of onboard snacks and liquids. Have your bike in good maintenance. We will ride through remote areas that are far from bike shops. Not a race. This is a time to relax, be social and take in the natural beauty of the SF bay tidelands. It is recommended that you ride with the group. Lots of turns! It's easy to get lost on unmarked dirt trails and multi-use paths.
Regroups and stops:
*ample regroups and a few restroom/water stops
*at leader's discretion
