About this event
Time: Meet 8:45 AM/Roll 9:00 AM
Details: Start from Java Hut, Fairfax Warm up on Whites Hill. Don't go full throttle just yet. Next comes the SFD/Pierce Point 350 ft zinger then after a quick descent, it's the main event Mt. Vision climb which is between 7-11% gradient for almost 2 miles to the summit followed by a much easier climb from Pierce Pt. Road back to SFD. Refresh and refuel at Pt. Reyes Station and save some in your tank for the slow burn on SFD back up to the top of Whites Hill before you drop back down to the home base in Fairfax. Please exercise extreme caution on roads with narrow or no shoulder. Leave space for cars to come into the road.
Pacing: AB social pace (12.0-13.9 mph average pace over the entire ride) with David Snaith & Juan Pommier OR Leaderless Brisk BC pace with Earl McCowen to lead us off. PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE ROUTE, PRINT A CUE SHEET OR KNOW THE ROUTE.
Hilliness Rating: Hilly 74.29 ft/mile. Whites Hill, Olema , SFD to Pierce Point Rd (.8mi/+342'/8%), Mt. Vision (1.8mi/+769'/7.8%) ; there are 6 total climbs on this route. Not a beginner's ride
Suggested regroups: Samuel P. Taylor Park bathrooms by the park entrance, Olema, Mt. Vision summit, Toby's at Pt. Reyes Station, Nicasio. **BC Pace Leaderless group may or may not regroup at any of these points.
