About this event
Time: Meet 9:15AM/Roll 9:30AM
Location: Rancho Nicasio 1 Old Rancheria Rd, Nicasio CA 94946
Pace: Social Pace 12.7-13.9 mph/Moderate Pace. 14-16 mph/Brisk Pace 15-18 mph for the entire ride inclusive of all climbs Legend & Pace Rating
The November to January months are the breeding and birthing season of the mighty elephant seals. You might catch a glimpse of them at Drake's Beach.
Social Pace & Moderate Pace, it's a straight forward 52 miles course, Pt. Reyes Petaluma, Hwy 1 and Sir Francis Drake, approximately 6 climbs in all totaling 2,800 ft of climbs. Ride from your home to pad up the mileage and turn it into a very challenging ride. Drakes Beach 52 mi Base Route
Brisk Pace course is a BIG ride with Earl McCowen, similar route as above but goes to the Lighthouse and then stops at Drakes Beach on the return, 63 miles/+3,979 ft total Lighthouse 63 miles
Typical stops: Pt. Reyes Station porta potties on the way out, Drakes Beach, Pt. Reyes Station snack stop at Toby's and last bathroom stop; stops and regroups at the ride leaders' discretion.
NOT A NO DROP RIDE. Not a beginner's ride. This is a strenuous ride with constant climbing. Not a sightseeing leisurely ride. The 63 miles Lighthouse is very strenuous; there is a windy stretch in Point Reyes on Sir Francis Drake.
Other pace riders welcome but should be prepared to provide their own navigation. Ride leaders will ride at the published pace. If you ride way slower or faster than the main group you will be separated and will likely be riding on your own. Try to find a small pod who knows the way and stick together. Please review the route well in advance of the ride. Download it to your bike computer or print out a cue sheet.
