Meet at the *side entrance of Sports Basement Novato at 8:15 AM.  We'll snap a group photo first.  (*side entrance is around the corner, parallel Vintage Way, where the smaller parking lot is)

Rides will start at 8:30 am.

This is the perfect Marin Century training ride you might be looking for: 3 routes (26 miles, 46 miles and 59 miles) and 4 paces. (Leisurely, Social, Moderate and Brisk Pace.).  Members and Non-members welcome.  Please register to ride.


The Beginner friendly 26 miles route will meander through horse country of Novato and stop by Olompali  Park and Black Point.  There are no big hills and we will regroup often including at Miwok Park, Olompali Park, and Black Point.  Average overall speed <12 mph. 26 miles route  (Ride Leaders: Rodney Noda and Lisa Martin)

☞ The Intermediate 46 miles route
with 2,250 feet of climbing will be at a social pace (12-14 mph average moving speed).  We start out on the lower traffic volume roads of Novato then onto a steady climb on Novato Blvd by Stafford Lake then an out and back on Marshall-Petaluma Road.  You will NOT be climbing Marshall Wall.  Return via Red Hill Road then San Antonio Road back to Sports Basement.  The biggest climb is 5% for 1 mile on Pt Reyes Petaluma Road, but it's immediately followed by a reward of a 2.5 mile downhill.  Suggested regroups are at Stafford Lake Park for a bathroom break, the base of Marshall Wall, and  the beginning of San Antonio Road. 46 miles route  (Ride Leaders: Paul Whiteley, Rick Krueger, Frank Valentini and Jan Lau)

☞ The Long 59 miles route with over 3,300 feet of climbing.  There will be two pace groups, 14-16 mph average speed, "moderate pace" and >16 mph average speed, "brisk pace."  This route will roll out on Indian Valley Road and connect back to Novato Blvd, up and over Marshall Wall to Marshall, down Highway 1 to Pt. Reyes Station, then return Nicasio Valley Road and back along Novato Blvd to the start.  Major climbing difficulties include Marshall Wall (1.4 miles at 7.4%) and Cheese Factory Climb (0.7 miles at 7.7%).  Regroups to be determined by the leader of each pace group but could include bathrooms in Marshall and coffee in Pt. Reyes Station.
