Classic New Year's Day Mount Diablo Hill Climb (Melissa, Jackie)

 

 

Join Melissa Jacobson and Jackie Arnett for a New Years Day classic Mount Diablo hill climb.   Meet: 9:45 AM/ wheels roll: 10:00 AM. 
 
We'll roll neutral for the initial 2.5 miles to the park's North Gate Road entrance.  From there climb as much as you like.  The Junction Ranger Station is at mile 10.4/+2,176 for the standard treatment OR for the full "Hot Dog with the Works" up to the summit, mile marker 14.9/+3,818'.  Let's try to stay together on the way back.  Roll at the pace you feel like.  The leaders will be riding at a Social/AB pace.  If you wish to ride much faster or slower please provide your own navigation or find a small pod of buddies to ride with.  We may duck into a coffee shop at the end.

Junction Ranger Station 28.8 mi/+2,569'

Must register to ride, members and non-members.


Please upload the route to your bike computer or phone, or print out a turn by turn cue sheet for yourself.  We may ride at different speeds and some of us may choose to summit or not.

Bring warm layers with you.  It's cold as you get higher up and the descent is even chillier.  20% or greater chance of rain cancels ride.  Road closure(s) on the main roads in the park cancels ride.
Possible coffee stop on the return: Peet's coffee at Ygnacio Plaza Shopping Center, 1835 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek 94598
