Lorraine Trautwein has officially stepped down from her position as Marin Century ride director, but she is not leaving us by any stretch of the imagination. At our annual holiday party, Dec. 1, she was elected to the club’s board, along with William Farrer, Jim Foley, Doug Henningsen, and Rob Kamai. She was also among the newly elected club officers:
William Farrer – President
Lorraine Trautwein – Vice President
Doug Henningsen – Treasurer
Jeff Sanchez – Secretary
James Foley and Rob Kamai – Marin Century Co-Chairs
Lorraine and Jeff Sanchez presented checks to a dozen area organizations and to two natural disaster relief efforts:
Marin County Bicycle Coalition
Marin Amateur Radio Society
Trips for Kids
San Francisco Bicycle Coalition
Ghilotti Trust
California Bicycle Coalition
Pedaling Paths to Independence
Novato Hornets
San Rafael Bulldogs
Terra Linda High School
San Marin High School
Friends of Mt. Tam State Park
Houston Hurricane Relief
American Red Cross Santa Rosa
The evening ended with a few remarks by new Marin Century co-chair Rob Kamai. He said he is looking forward to working with the club to make our annual ride the success it has been in past years. That's a tall order. As Lorraine noted, the Marin Century may be the nation's oldest continuously produced 100 miler.
