By the Numbers
We’ve got the results of our survey about the 2017 Marin Century. But we also have a story about a different set of numbers that may spell the end of our 55-year-old event—without a little help from our friends.
Chapeau 55th Marin Century!
Our 2017 Marin Century, August 5, drew some 2,300 riders—including 130 or so Mt Tam Double riders—and was staged by more than 200 volunteers, led by ride director Lorrain Trautwein with the assistance of some seasoned Marin Cyclist event veterans. It’s hard to know whether the scenic courses or the post-ride feast was a bigger hit, but one thing’s for sure: we saw a lot of smiling faces at the finish.
Plenty of Positions and Perks for Marin Century Volunteers
The Marin Century is entirely staged and supported by volunteers. You in? There are some pretty cool positions plus perks. Read on.
Marin Century Promos on NBC Sports!
The Tour de France has started! And so have the crashes. Ouch! They say it will be the Cris Froome show, but we'll hope that some of the other heads of state will give Chris a run for his money. If you are tuning into NBC Sports for your daily TdF fix, watch out for our Marin Century promos!!
Wanted: Marin Century Volunteers
It takes more than 100 volunteers to put on the best cycling event in NorCal, the Marin Century and Mt Tam Double. Every year riders tell us on our annual survey and on social media what a stupendous day they had because of the good folks who helped them in myriad ways on event day. Many volunteers return year after year. Find out why.
Mt Tam Double Century Returns
After a rough year of road repairs, our beloved Mt Tam Double (and our Mt Tam Century) returns to this year’s lineup of Marin Century courses. With a few changes.
Check Out Our Saturday Meet Up Ride
Sometimes you want to ride alone, and sometimes you want some jovial conversation or need someone to distract you from the wind, the heat/cold, the climbs, or the potholes while you train for your next century. That’s why we created the Saturday Meet Up Ride.
Marin Century Ads Debuting at the Tour of California
Remember the tweeting birds from our Marin Century television ads? They're back and they'll be audible--and some of our riders, viewable (though not really individually identifiable)--during this year's Tour of California coverage.
